Financial Aid
The trained professionals in the Brooks College Financial Aid office are here to assist students in obtaining a quality education by helping to remove economic barriers. They can assist students and parents with questions about financial aid programs, applications, and deadlines for Financial Aid.
Brooks College administrates its financial aid programs in accordance with prevailing federal and state laws and its own institutional policies. Financial aid programs include federal aid programs, California grant programs, institutional grant programs, and student loan programs. Brooks College participates in a variety of financial aid programs through federal, state, institutional and private funding sources. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Some of these include:
- Federal Grants: These include Federal Pell and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, which are based on a student’s calculated financial need. Grants do not have to be repaid.
- Scholarships: Sources include private businesses, corporations, foundations, and individuals. Donors and deadlines vary, and criteria may be based upon academic excellence. Scholarships do not have to be repaid.
- Federal Student Loans: These include Federal Stafford and PLUS loans, each with different requirements and criteria. Loans must be paid back after you either finish school or drop below half-time enrollment.
- Federal Work-Study: Work-study can assist students in meeting the cost of their education by working part-time while attending school. Positions may either be on campus, off campus, or community service-related.
- Private Loans: Various lending institutions offer loans to help cover the gap between the cost of education and the amount of federal programs.
